Black Veil Brides Australian Tour Kicks Off This Week!

by the partae June 30, 2022
written by the partae

Australia, BLACK VEIL BRIDES Australian tour kicks off this week! Tickets for their Australian headline tour are flying out the door. With Adelaide and Melbourne’s 18+ show sold out, the tickets for Melbourne’s all ages show are selling fast and final tickets remaining for Sydney and Brisbane.

BLACK VEIL BRIDES have championed the isolated, the dismissed, and the forgotten since the band’s early inception. That ethos and spirit persists in the fully realized incarnation of the band whose image is the object of devotion and obsession, and whose anthems are sung in unison by an international audience, a diverse legion who refuse to surrender.

In an era when rock music is regularly declared “dead,” BLACK VEIL BRIDES music videos have been viewed over a half a billion times. The band (and its members including vocalist, Andy Biersack, who was named as one of the 100 Greatest Living Rock Stars by Revolver) Instagram and Twitter accounts command close to 10 million followers between them.

BLACK VEIL BRIDES have an impressive stack of awards and accolades under their belt with multiple Kerrang! Awards, Revolver Golden Gods Awards and Alternative Press Music Awards. Vale, the group’s most recent full-length album, went to No. 1 on the US Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums chart.

The band’s tour history reads like a textbook of subcultural mile markers in the modern heavy music scene. An initial hardscrabble headlining outing in 2009 has been followed by multiple mainstage runs on the Vans Warped Tour; tours with Slash, Motley Crue, Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet For My Valentine; the massive Resurrection Tour, co-headlined by new labelmates Asking Alexandria; multiple US festivals, including Rock on the Range and Aftershock; and several appearances at the UK’s acclaimed Download Festival.

With a rightful reverence for the pop cultural icons of the past, the young outfit has nevertheless fashioned their own collective future, with relentless fury. In the hearts and minds of their fans, Black Veil Brides represents an unwillingness to compromise and a resistance to critics (personal and professional), fueled by the same fire as the group’s own heroes, the iconoclasts whose creative output, once dismissed, is now canonized.

Tickets are on sale now from www.destroyalllines.com

Magic Machine Release ‘Escapism’ Album This Friday!

by the partae June 30, 2022
written by the partae

Magic Machine are a Sydney based band that have been making waves with their unique take on Psych Rock. The band started in early 2021 and since then have been rather prolific releasing their debut album in October 2021. The recently released video for, ‘Out In The Country’ was the first from their upcoming second album while the new single ‘Daydreamer’ drops on Tuesday the 26th of June ahead of the new album ‘Escapism’ on Friday the 1st of July.

The band has played all over NSW, including a number of festivals, and were recently asked to support Skeggs; in an exciting development Magic Machine will appear at Wanderer Festival, their biggest show to date, alongside The Dandy Warhol’s, Confidence Man and The Teskey Brothers later in the year. The album release show will take place on July the 1st at the Caringbah Hotel in NSW.

Inspired by the 60s/70s’ psychedelic rock, blues, boogie scene. Magic Machine deal in intoxicating and genre-bending tones, wild and uncompromising guitar with spooky organ sounds. Sonic experimentation and inventive arrangements take you through a time delay to the past with eyes firmly looking towards the future.

Matthew Gilbert

by the partae June 30, 2022
written by the partae

Where are you currently based?

I’m currently based in the far northern suburbs of Melbourne and have just moved with my wife Sarah and two dogs Alfie and Kora to Briar Hill

How did you first start playing music?

I started playing music like most people do, at school. What really inspired me to write and consider it as a career though, when one day a wonderful man, Ben Abraham, came to our school and played for the everyone. It was the first time felt that ‘This is what I want to do with my life’ vibe!

What’s been happening recently?

Like I mentioned above… Quite a lot. ‘Getting Over All Of It’ really signifies the change of a season in life. Sarah and I moving out of our house-sharing house (which we love and will dearly miss) into a little two bed room to prepare ourselves to be parents, to give just one of a few. Music wise though, I’m currently preparing for the album launch at The Wesley Anne on the 30th of July with a 15-piece band. It’s going to be epic!

You’ve just released your sophomore album ‘Getting Over All Of It’ what influenced the sound and songwriting?

So many things influenced this album! Sufjan Stevens, Gang Of Youths, Kings Kaleidoscope, Bon Iver and S. Carey to name a few artists. The songwriting was all inspired by the difficult situations that were happening around me at the time. Stories of broken relationships, church struggles and learning to grow through difficulties.

How did Getting Over All Of It come about?

Like I mentioned above, ‘Getting Over All Of It’ came about really as a way for me to process and fully experience the things that were happening around me. I’m generally not a super emotional person, but theres just something about music that can bring me to my knees. I think that’s why I wrote it so I could start some sort of therapy process to heal.

Where and when did you record/produce/master and who did you work with?

Haha, It was messy. A lot of the recording was done by me and through all the lockdowns and was spread over 2 years. I had some international musicians to help me out with all of the strings parts and then worked remotely/locally for all the core instruments like drums, bass and electric guitar. I had sooooo many people involved in this album though, 20 people all up. In no particular order; Graham Christopher King – Drums, Jacob Sells – Electric Guitar/Percussion/Mixing, Gordon Lewis – Bass, Marlene Bellissimo – Violin, Jiro Yoshioka – Cello, Steve Giddings – Pedal Steel Guitar, Joshua Dobson – Cello, Jack Hunter – Vocals, Daisey May – Vocals, Sarah Young – Vocals, Maddy Bialecki – Choir, Sam Gorfine – Choir, Justine Healey – Choir, Katie Lapp – Choir, Michael Smyth – Choir, Matt Wandon – Choir, Sarah Young – Choir, Kate Sells – Choir, HANA – Choir, and Adam Dempsey – Mastering. CRAZY!

How did you approach the recording process?

I approached this album very differently. The biggest change was working remotely with people. We tried zoom for quite a bit, BUT it was a little jenky for music, so musicians listen up… Check out Sessionwire! Well worth it. Apart from that, the biggest difference from this album to the last though is that I really wanted to focus on the instruments and not my voice. You’ll notice that I sing quite softly through a majority of the album. This was intentional.

Your album was completely funded via your fanbase on Kickstarter, please tell us about how this helped you:

Close, I actually funded a lot of it myself and then my fanbase funded all of the promotion and the launch of the album. Without them we wouldn’t have been able to work with the wonderful people at Beehive PR and we wouldn’t have been able to push advertising of the album either. Massive help in the release of the album.

Who are you listening to at the moment?

Literally listening to Maverick City Music right now, but on any given day you’ll see me listening to; Sufjan Stevens, MARO, Organ Freeman, The Magic Lantern, Luz and Peter Sandberg

What do you like to do away from music?

I don’t really do a lot apart from music as I work as a music teacher, BUT when I’m not doing that you’ll see me involved in church, doing some sort of filming and spending time with our dogs.

What’s planned for the remainder of 2022 going into 2023?

‘Getting Over All Of It’ album launch at The Wesley Anne on the 30th of July and then hoping to set up some more performances and then start doing some more recording with other artists around Melbourne.

Favourite food and place to hangout?

Ooooo I’m pretty open for food. My regular stomping ground is Burger Road out where we live. My favourite is some sort of ribs…Mmmmmm.

Jacob Brodovsky ‘Night Baker’ Premiere

by the partae June 29, 2022
written by the partae
Winnipeg’s Jacob Brodovsky has released his indie-folk infused (and quirky pop tune) “Night Baker” from his upcoming album “I Love You And I’m Sorry”.
A singer-songwriter, guitar player, college radio host, and summer camp director from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Treaty One Territory – Jacob is keen to release his new music.  After years of playing in various bands (most recently fronting folk rock band Kakagi) he released his debut solo EP ‘Sixteen Years’ in 2019. A champion for Winnipeg’s local music scene, he hosts “Let’s Play DJ” a weekly interview show for local musicians to talk about music they like on CKUW. He spent the pandemic recording his first full length effort – and when he’s not writing songs, he runs a children’s summer camp with his wife in Lake of the Woods, Ontario and spoils his rescue dog, Mavis (no relation to me).

MATTHEW GILBERT releases cathartic & poignant sophomore album ‘GETTING OVER ALL OF IT’ Release show at The Wesley Anne on Saturday, July 30th.

by the partae June 29, 2022

Personal stories, paired with enthralling storytelling, has always inspired Matthew Gilbert’s songwriting. ‘Getting Over All Of It’ marks the forthcoming sophomore release for Gilbert, filling ten glorious tracks with his signature, ethereal charm and ‘straight-from-the-heart’ compositions. Having successfully funded a Kickstarter campaign for the album’s recording & release, Matthew Gilbert’s audience now waits with anticipation to begin to hear the creations they’ve supported over the past year. With the album and his core group of fans playing such a large support in his life, Gilbert is now so eager to give back to his fanbase, providing a set of sounds, melodies & stories for them to carry with them throughout their own journeys.

With ample amounts of time on his hands, alongside an abundance of creative energy, Matthew Gilbert penned and produced ‘Getting Over All Of It’ during the hard, stage four lockdown that was blanketed across Melbourne in 2021. Hundreds of separate audio tracks were utilized in the creation of its final form, with these sourced to include choral & orchestral arrangements from Germany, United Kingdom, Japan and the United States. Mixed by Jacob Sells (Woodlock, LANKS) and mastered by Adam Dempsey (Courtney Barnett, Paul Kelly), the final album was lovingly pieced together to create a work even greater than the sum of its parts.

“I was planning to release these songs as singles, but when listening through I was struck at how they all flowed from similar events and themes. Not only that, but I felt a tug on my heart, there was a deep sense of ‘letting go’ I needed from this music being released In an Album format. Hence, ‘Getting Over All Of It’” Matthew Gilbert

“The process of creating this music happened over the last 2 years. In and out of lockdowns the album was recorded mostly in homes around the world. From Australia to the United Kingdom, Germany, America and Japan ‘Getting Over All Of It’ features over 23 amazing humans in its creation. All of it gorgeously arranged by myself.”  Matthew Gilbert

Following on from his debut LP ‘This Heart’, performed alongside an 18-piece ensemble and elevating the release event to a truly cinematic experience, Matthew Gilbert has chipped away to create an album that is next step in the vivid & detailed sonic journey within his songwriting. A collection of music stories from the past 5 years of his life, there is an abundance of highs and the deepest of lows across the release. Lead single ‘Out Of The Contempt’ epitomizes this, channeling honesty, depression & heartbreak to unveil the inner-workings of his psyche, when moving past a deeply hurtful period in his life.

“Out Of The Contempt is the crowning jewel of my upcoming album ‘Getting Over All Of It’. It completes the story of moving through the last 5 years of my life. Filled with depression, relationships, church hurt and restoring faith. Out Of The Contempt sings about moving on from all the hurt, regardless of getting closure, for the sake of healing. Out Of The Contempt is an Alternative Cinematic Soundscape full of orchestral elements and authentic ambient tones.” Matthew Gilbert

“We all go through tough times, but rarely do we take the necessary space to reflect. This was me. Failing to invest in my own health I was neglecting something deep within my soul. Distant sounds, melodies and stories around me that were yearning to be told.‘Getting Over All Of It’ is a collection of musical stories from the last 5 years of my life. These have been some of the most soaring mountain top highs and the deepest lurching lows.” Matthew Gilbert.

Matthew Gilbert is emerging gradually as one of Australia’s premiere indie-folk performers. With an abundance of relatable and moving stories up his sleeve, Gilbert capivates listeners with his honest melodies, lush harmonies and mysterious lyrics – hitting hard but always pulling back for a warm embrace when complete. His heartful songwriting is the tonic for a cold night, difficult week, heartbreak, lost love or any setback faced in the to & fro’s of day-to-day life.

“The end result speaks for itself; a ten strong collection packed with Gilbert’s signature charm, lush harmonies, and mysterious lyrics. Set for release tomorrow, stand-outs include the ethereal “Into The Moon”, and the wonderful rise and fall of duet “Burning From The Inside”. Recent single “Out Of The Contempt” also shines, with Gilbert describing it as the “crowning jewel” of the album.”

JOHNNY HUNTER’s triumphant debut album ‘Want’

by the partae June 28, 2022

“a lush eruption of cinematic passion and heavy-hearted emotion” – Atwood Magazine

“blistering guitar riffs and howling vocals filled with raw, boundless energy” – Earmilk

“poised to cement their cult-classic status” – Life Without Andy

“They put the new in new wave on this striking debut” – NME Australia

“Johnny Hunter stand out from the pack” – Newcastle Herald

**** “Want is everything Johnny Hunter could have hoped to achieve” – The AU Review

“A mighty tune, expertly rendered and delivered with heart” – The Guardian

“so exciting and modern” – Vive Le Rock!

Kings of Sydney’s underground Johnny Hunter have today released their triumphant debut album Want via Cooking Vinyl Australia. Led by an emphatic music video for the title-track, Want comes ahead of the band embarking on a 9-date national album tour throughout July.

Buy the album HERE. Tickets are on sale HERE.

Rousing blood-pumper ‘Want‘ is a thunderous opening to the album, walloping with insurmountable force. From the outset, the title-track introduces Johnny Hunter as defiant and determined; frontman Nick Hutt shares “it’s a spearheaded promise to ourselves to be the best version we can be. With this song, our self-assured affirmation acts as a hardened fist to the whirlwind of challenges that life throws at us. ‘Want’ is Johnny Hunter incarnate.”

Despite the spirited nature of Johnny Hunter and their confident charisma, it’s the moments of furious honesty and deep catharsis where the strength of Want shines most brightly. Songs like ‘Cry Like A Man’ and ‘Clover’ hear Hutt bare his soul, with each soaring vocal adding another dimension to this six-piece who are destroying the boundaries of man-hood with their powerful vulnerability and proud embrace of self.

Hutt notes “As we were finishing the record, we had just gotten out of lockdown and were certain that we were staring down the barrel of another couple of months in isolation… so there’s an element of structured desperation across the ten tracks.” This raw humanity underscores the entire album; Johnny Hunter are self-aware enough to acknowledge that we are all human and need to embrace our whole selves on the journey to self-actualisation. ‘The Floor’ is an acceptance of our lowest points, while ‘Fracture’ finds the beauty in sadness. “No matter how different we may seem…unbeknownst to what it is we want… we have all been naive, we have all strived to find our version of life, we all fear change, fear sadness, all amidst our own collective fading eternity.” However they are equally fuelled by a grit and hunger that drives them to take on the world, its changes and its conflicts head on – expressed with absolute inviniciblity and naivety on ‘Endless Days’.

On bringing their cinematic soundscapes to life, Hutt adds “Being able to involve our producer Jack Moffitt (The Preatures) into the creative process ensured we could squeeze the best out of every song. Our relationship really drove the direction of the final production and helped to finesse the lyrics. We also teamed up with critically acclaimed producer Adam Greenspan (IDLES, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Yeah Yeah Yeahs) to mix the album, and working with him opened our production so much more than we ever imagined.”

Since emerging from the shadows of Sydney’s grim nightlife in 2019, Johnny Hunter have quickly risen to cult favourites, selling out rooms across Australia’s East Coast and winning audiences over supporting the likes of Jack White and The Saboteurs, City Calm Down and Polish Club to name a few. Their debut EP Early Trauma (2020) garnered critical praise and airplay around the country, citing influences and drawing comparisons to The Smiths, Joy Division and The Cure. Though their sound is rooted in nostalgia, their impassioned songwriting and explosive live shows are undeniably made for now.

The Grogans ‘Inside My Mind’ Australian Tour

by the partae June 27, 2022
written by the partae

“like the love child of The Ramones and Supergrass.” – Arun Kendall, Backseat Mafia

Melbourne raconteurs The Grogans return in all their laconic glory on their all out audio visual psych trip ‘Inside My Mind’. Filling the big shoes of the trio’s recent success with their 7’’ double A-side singles ‘Just A Kid’ and ‘Be Your Man’—collectively added to Spotify’s New Music Friday AU & NZ, Fresh Finds AU & NZ and Local Noise playlists—‘Inside My Mind’ continues The Grogans’ prolifically inventive and pigeonhole-defying style in a bluesy psych trip of epic proportions. To celebrate the release, Quin, Gus and Jordy, are thrilled to be heading on their biggest tour to date, heading to Tasmania, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Byron Bay, Christchurch, Auckland and Wellington.

‘Inside My Mind’ navigates perceived misconceptions and irrational thoughts in a woozy fuzz fest of swampy blues and surf psych. The song’s lucrative reverberations and hazy delay are exemplified by the Jackson Hayat directed clip with glistening colourful visuals by Nathaniel Stewart in a fever dream feast for the senses.

WATCH ‘INSIDE MY MIND’ VIDEO

“Inside my mind is a track that has been around for years. I believe it was written sometime between 2016/2017. This song is based on that anxious feeling you might get from making up irrational things in your head but understanding they are just fake perceptions you’ve created. The whole song (lyrically and sonically) is a different feel for this album following the last two singles, but our albums tend to normally dip into a few different genres, reflecting the three of our different influences.” – The Grogans

Having just completed a massive sold out Australian tour with Hockey Dad, as well as performing at Sailor Jerry’s Road to Rolling Stone concert alongside Eliza & The Delusionals and The Terrys, The Grogans are in fine form and raring to go for their biggest tour to date kicking off this June across three months at major cities across Australia and New Zealand. Do not miss your chance to catch this rising chameleon act as they perform songs from their expansive surf, punk, blues and reggae catalog this winter.

Last month, Irish-born Gold Coast indie-folk artist Eimhin made his debut with the powerful single ‘Lately’ (released May 13) that radiates with the triumphant strength of surviving dark and difficult times to come out the other side a changed person. Eimhin is now pairing it with a visual exploration of the song in the spellbinding music video.

Today, Eimhin has released the cinematic visual companion to this release. Directed and edited by Eimhin himself, the ‘Lately’ film clip explores the strength necessary for surviving dark and difficult times and coming out the other side of a changed person.

The clip was filmed in the charming Pimpama School of the Arts on the traditional lands of the Yugambeh language group, with the help of cinematographer Aidan Rice and with support from the Regional Arts Development Fund and City of Gold Coast.

Choreographed by Guy Ritani and featuring Eimhin’s siblings, bandmates and dear friends as dancers, this clip is a moving and poised, casting out a subtle aura of magic. Eimhin explains the message behind the song music video:

“2020 was a wild year and it took a whole bunch of things going wrong for me to realise that there is a better way to be. ‘Lately’ is about coming to a realisation that I had been living a sort of half-life. I spent such a long time thinking that being detached was my armour but it was actually holding me back from a whole spectrum of emotions and experiences.

The video is a visual exploration of the time immediately before that realisation. The slow-motion dance sequences, represent my general indifference, a time miss-spent going with the flow and choosing the easy path. The ominous doorway signifies a dark depression. I would have fallen all the way in had I not had a really great network of family and friends to pull me out of the abyss.”

Coming from a deeply personal space for Eimhin, this stunning visual work reinforces the track’s message about the importance that a strong support network has for those struggling with mental health – a journey he has gone through and is sharing to the world.

‘Lately’ and this accompanying music video are out now.

European Tour Dates

Multi-award-winning contemporary folk aficionado and self-proclaimed globetrotter Kaurna Cronin has been leaving his mark over the past few months in the lead up to the release of his brand new album ‘Harsh Beauty’, out on June 24.

Previously named Folk Alliance Australia’s ‘Artist Of The Year’, Kaurna Cronin is known for invoking intense emotional responses through his stirring folk storytelling, celebrated as the recipient of the APRA-AMCOS ‘Emily Burrows Award’, as well as being known for his extensive tours around Europe and Australia.

Now, delivering his eighth album since his debut, Kaurna Cronin aims to reflect on the environment’s effect on humanity with an 11-track exploration into how we broadly perceive ourselves and the lands we live – and how this land influences our beliefs and ideals.

“‘Harsh Beauty’ is a reflection on how our environment shapes our cultures, lives and personalities; as we leave our mark on the world – so too, do the landscapes we traverse cast themselves upon us,” Kaurna Cronin elaborates.

“Touring to many different countries and cultures, I am fascinated by how human characteristics and personality traits can be seen in parallel to the surrounding physical landscapes. It is as if we are adapting our social and political environments and aligning our language, visual aesthetics and behaviour to mimic our physical surrounds.”

Opening with gravity-defying single ‘Our Way’, Cronin reflects on vulnerabilities in relationships paired with compromise and understanding with an orchestral folk-rock power illuminated by pulsing strings, spacious riffs and a decadent harmonica solo.

Next, we find ‘Unknown’, a bittersweet folk ditty inspired by the Paul Keating ‘Rememberance Day Speech’, commenting on the wars of past and present.

Speaking to the feeling of being utterly out of control, ‘Sideways’ emerges with honky-tonk tinged guitar riffs and organ notes, with a saxophone solo for the ages, until recently released single ‘Never Said’ rears up with edgy electric guitars and jarring percussion-lead rhythms, observing the struggle artists face living in a capitalist society.

In a cloud of red rock dust, ‘Keep Me By The Rock’ brings rich melodies, earthy vocals and Goanna-esque rock riffs, inspired by Australia’s history and Kaurna’s drive from Darwin to Adelaide to join the ceremonies for the closing of the Uluru climb.

With a sweet yearning comes ‘One Day Away From You’, using a slinky bass groove, intense strings, clacking percussive elements and stirring lyricism to evoke the feeling of longing that comes from being away from home, followed by a melancholic sequel of sorts with ‘I Write Love Songs’ which is about necessary separation from places and relationships.

Questioning the ongoing need for ties with the monarchy, ‘Why Do You Love Lizzie?’ is a melodic soft folk track combining gentle guitars with pleading vocals and distinct harmonies, before ‘If The First Time Was The Last Time’ delivers sauntering piano notes, funky bass guitar grooves and changing instrumental layers, contrasting the idea of monotony and the cyclical nature of our lives explored in the lyrics.

As the name indicates, ‘As It Comes, As It Goes’ is a song about letting go of grand expectations and taking the good with the bad, told with a playful, upbeat melody and encouraging lyrics, before album closer ‘The Hardest Part’ looks towards the future with a final bittersweet folk moment about recognising when it is time for a new beginning.

Kaurna Cronin’s previous releases have seen support from Double J, Triple J Unearthed, APRA-AMCOS, the AMRAP Regional Charts, MTV Germany, Scenestr, Forte, Australian Musician, Beat Magazine, Rip It Up, Out Now Magazine and more.

Get ready for some hard-hitting truths and rich storytelling with the release of Kaurna Cronin’s new album ‘Harsh Beauty’, out everywhere on June 24, celebrated by an extensive European Tour – tickets on sale now.

Looking for a Luxury Watch? Here are the Brands to Check Out

by the partae June 25, 2022
written by the partae

Are you looking to spoil yourself after working hard for the last couple of months? Do you have a watch collection that you are looking to grow? If you answer yes to both questions, then it might be time to check out some luxury watches to add to your arsenal.

A lot of people think that watches that cost thousands of dollars are excessive. However, considering the mastery of work and effort that’s put into making these masterpieces, it’s safe to say that their price tag is well worth it. For any watch lover, that’s more than enough reason to invest in these amazing timepieces.

When it comes to luxury watches, you shouldn’t just look at the price tag of the watch. You should also look at the makers or the brand of the watch as well. A popular brand guarantees that you are getting the most out of your hard-earned money. Here are the most popular brands of luxury watches that you must check out.

Rolex

Rolex watches are considered as the Rolls-Royce of the watch industry. The brand is known for producing some of the most expensive watches in the world. They also frequently release unique and one-of-a-kind watches in limited numbers which result in prices as you’ve never seen before.

There’s a lot of history behind Rolex. For one, they were the first watchmakers to patent a waterproof watch – the now-famous Oyster model. They also made the first self-winding watch to the market as well. For film buffs, Rolex watches are the watch of choice of Agent 007, James Bond.

Rolex watches are pricey and are at the top of the chain for a reason. The brand prides itself on its dedication to quality in an industry where new models are released regularly.  Rolex watches are also good to add to your collection because they increase in value over time. Of course, we doubt you’d want to sell one of their watches if you’re truly a collector.

Omega

As a brand with a history of over 170 years, you shouldn’t be surprised at how well Omega makes its watches. The brand’s watches has been to the North Pole, it has been brought to the very depths of earth, and even into space! That’s very surprising especially when you consider the fact that the brand was founded in a Swiss village back in 1848.

Omega is mostly known for the durability of their watches, hence it’s capable of withstanding various conditions. As one of the top luxury watch brands out there, Omega also puts a lot of heart and thought into making sure that each watch’s design is memorable.

Patek Philippe

Switzerland is certainly a nation where most of the best watchmakers are from. One of the brands that represent the country is Patek Philippe. Since being founded in 1839, this watch brand has been synonymous with luxury watches that are made with care and precision piece by piece.

Patek Philippe has an unparalleled approach to design in the sense that each detail is unique and a true representation of what the brand is. Many would consider Patek Philippe as the brand that is always in top contention with the likes of Rolex and it’s easy to see why.

Although the brand has been known for its traditional and timeless take on watches, Patek Philippe is not one to lag behind in terms of technology and advancements in watch design. Still, the makers of Patek Philippe watches guarantee that each peach is handmade with love and master craftsmanship.

Tag Heuer

Tag Heuer is a Swiss brand that was launched in 1860 by Edouard Heuer. It’s one of the most popular brands in the world but surprisingly, not a lot of people know the basics like what the word TAG stands for. It stands for “Techniques d’Avant Garde” which translates to avant-garde techniques – a testament to the handiwork put into making each watch.

The brand is known for its distinct design which makes it look a bit sporty even for a luxury brand. The best Tag Heuer watches look sleek, stylish, and very professional. Tag Heuer is an innovator in terms of style and function. Their watches are truly world-class and it deserves a spot in your collection.

Audemars Piguet

Another luxury brand to come out of Switzerland is Audemars Piguet. The brand is most well-known for catering to top celebs like Arnold Schwarzenegger, James LeBron, and many others by giving them truly one-of-a-kind watches. However, even their standard watches in circulation are already worth drooling for.

One of the most popular creations of Audemars Piguet is the Royal Oak model which was first introduced in 1972. It is the first stainless steel sports watch that was marketed as a luxury style piece. The watch itself combined both style, luxury, and durability which was a first during the 1970s.

To this day, Audemars Piguet continues to create timepieces that look sporty and luxurious at the same time. There’s certainly a market for such watches which is why Audemars Piguet continues to become one of the sought-after luxury brands in the watch industry.

A. Lange and Söhne

Lange and Söhne is a luxury brand from Germany. This watchmaker prides itself on its commitment to consistently delivering the best that the watch industry has to offer. It does so by making sure that each step in the making of their watches is done with precision and care.

The brand was founded in 1845. However, the company was put behind the curtains dring the first World War. The brand returned in 1990 after the reunification of Germany.  With such a unique history, it’s amazing to see A. Lange and Söhne keep up with the competition quickly despite being one of the brands that technically emerged just recently.

These are just some of the top luxury watch brands in the world. If you have the budget spend and the collection to expand, then you might want to consider grabbing some watches from these top companies. You’ll be surprised at how beautiful and durable their offerings are.

Bec Sandridge

by the partae June 25, 2022
written by the partae

Where are you currently based?

I’m currently in Thirroul, a small sea-side town in New South Wales.

How did you first start playing music?

In year 9 I bought a blue acoustic guitar off Ebay, and a guy across the road taught me all of Blink 182s back-catalog and the rest is history…

What’s been happening recently?

I just put out my first single Cost Of Love, the first music I’ve put out in three years and I’ve also been studying my Masters in Music Therapy which has been pretty fun, interesting and wild.

Your new EP ‘Lost Dog’ will be released on October 7, what influenced the sound and songwriting?

I’m very excited, it’s been a long time coming. I think it definitely feels a lot meatier and grittier than my previous work. I listened to a lot of atmospheric German club stuff whilst making it and also some strong 80s bangers like Tears For Fears.

How did you go about writing the EP?

I wrote a lot of the EP with my pals Dave and Lucy at their apartment in Clovelly and I was lucky enough to collaborate with so many great people I’ve always wanted to work with including Andy Bull, Geoff Swan, Japanese Wallpaper…

Where and when did you record and who did you work with?

We did a lot of the recording in Dave’s apartment but also kinda all over the shop. We did some drum tracking at Dorny Mayes studio, some stuff at Golden Retriever and I did a couple of vocal takes in my own bedroom. We also had additional production by Tony Buchen and Gab Strum (Japanese Wallpaper) and had Geoff Swan in the UK onboard (who is my dream mixer- think Charli XCX, Haim).

Your latest single ‘Cost Of Love’ is out now, how did this track come about?

COL was kind of formed off the back of a relationship that soured… We both started to lose ourselves so the question of “how much hard work should a relationship be?” kind of came to the service and that messaging is the crux of the song.

How does it feel to release new music after 3 years?

It feels pretty darn scary and pretty darn exciting. It feels good to create something so wholeheartedly. We’ve done the whole thing independently too which I’m incredibly proud of.

You’re going on tour in August, what can we expect?

It’s a whole new band, all gals, all queer. It’s going to rule.

Who are you listening to at the moment?

Maggie Rogers new record, Patsy Cline, Frank Sinatra and Angel Olsen’s Big Time.

What’s planned for the remainder of 2022 going into 2023?

Writing another record, hopefully a visit to UK/Europe and more touring…

Favourite food and place to hangout?

At the moment, I love Cafe Paci. Such good pasta – oof! And I quite like just hanging out at Sandon Point dog beach or Camperdown oval. So beaut, so many doggos!

Alok Releases 6th Installment of His Compilation “CONTROVERSIA by Alok” Series, Giving Recognition to Brazilian Music Scene

by the partae June 25, 2022
written by the partae

Artists: Various Artists
Title: CONTROVERSIA by Alok vol. 006
Label: CONTROVERSIA

Download / Stream

Brazilian maestro Alok just dropped the 6th installment of his “CONTROVERSIA by Alok” compilation, which showcases the forward-thinking sound that the label represents right now. This time the album features 13 tracks, 8 of which are exclusive, never-released productions, coming from international talents, such as CONTROVERSIA‘s very own Bhaskar, ÜHÜ together with startups like Capsm – a talented visually impaired artist, Nyella – who is the first female producer to have a solo single on the the label, and rising Ukrainian artist Scott Rill. The sonic journey spans a myriad of genres, from the deep progressive opener “I Feel U” to emotive and ethereal like in Tineway & Ytan‘s “Telling” and Modica‘s eastern organic influenced “Don’t Stop.” What has to be also mentioned, CONTROVERSIA has just surpassed 1B Spotify streams on their catalog, achieving another milestone.

“The arrival of the 6th edition of the compilation and following the recognition that previous installments have received is a huge joy to me. The concept continues to meet our main objective, which is to maximize the reach and recognition of the Brazilian electronic music scene here in Brazil as well as abroad, giving space to a vast number of artists to create and present their music to wider audiences. With a lot of effort, today, Controversia‘s releases are being presented weekly to millions of listeners around the world through the Controversia Radio Show, which was also recently featured as a label showcase on Tomorrowland’s OneWorld Radio. I had a great time plowing through the tons of demo submissions to pick the tracks and artists I currently like the most, so I hope you’ll enjoy the selection, which includes 8 exclusive productions you can hear only on the compilation.” – Alok

With a strong resume full of remixes and collaborations with artists such as The Rolling Stones to Zara Larsson, from Jason Derulo to Tove Lo, and more, Brazilian Alok has gained an immense international following and is currently having his global breakout moment. He already has the second-largest Instagram following of any electronic artist globally (over 27M), and his 20M devoted monthly listeners on Spotify have made him the most listened to Brazilian artist in the world. In 2021, he was named the 4th Best DJ in the world, according to the prestigious DJ Mag Top 100 DJ Poll. In 2019, Alok was nominated for the International Dance Music Awards for his hit remix of the Meduza single “Piece of Your Heart,” and he also worked with global pop sensation Dua Lipa for the official remix of her hit single “Physical.” Recently he also collaborated with Grammy-award pop sensation John Legend on “In My Mind” and with renegade vocalist John Martin on “Wherever You Go” and lended his talents to remix Ed Sheeran‘s “Shivers.” The sky is the limit for the Brazilian superstar.
