WILLARIS. K REVEALS TWO NEW TRACKS ‘RIVER SONG’ AND ‘DOUR NIGHTS’ IN VIDEO TRIOLOGY

SIGNS GLOBAL BOOKING AGENCY DEAL WITH WME
BIGSOUND NEXT WEEK

Willaris. K today reveals two tracks ‘River Song’ and new single, ‘Dour Nights’ in an uniquely captivating video trilogy. Watch it below:

Made by Sydney producer and director Yeoseop Yoon in collaboration with Willaris. Kthe 12-minute short film acts as a video clip trilogy for the track ‘Alchemy’ and two new songs ‘River Song’ and ‘Dour Nights’. Shot over 3 days in the NSW countryside, the film follows the idea that transformations need an agent; Alchemy is a chemical change, River Song represents a tidal change and Dour Nights, a disguised change. Cleverly captured, this forlorn narrative of father and son, matches a soundtrack just as compelling and progressive as the performance.

Tracks ‘River Song’ and ‘Dour Nights’ present audiences with a second and third taste of Willaris’ unique take on moody electronica, with a depth and level of sophistication in his production yet to be touched by other producers before him.

Willaris. K shares, “Doür Nights, as represented in the film is the feeling of that moment you let go of whatever it may be holding you back. It has come through many forms and it’s definitely taken the longest out of any other track to finish. River Song is basically a live, one take iPhone recording. You can actually hear me whisper to myself “Don’t fuck it up” in there somewhere. It is the turning point emotionally in the video.

The new music and video follows a busy year for the 23-year old producer Willaris. K, otherwise known as Jack McAllister who only five months ago, took his first day of a year long annual leave to pursue music full time. With only one track under his belt, Willaris. K has been heralded by national tastemakers as one of the most exciting producers of 2017, supported the likes of Seekae and George Fitzgerald and played explosive sets at Splendour In The Grass, Groovin The Moo, Volumes Festival and more. Willaris. K recalls, “After I released Alchemy, the reception to it exceeded my expectations. At that time, I was still working full time as an Electrical and Instrument Technician (the footsteps you hear throughout are an iPhone recording taken from me walking on a tray I maintained at work) which only left me nights after work to work on new music.

Willaris. K rounds out a big year with the news of his recent signing to one of the world’s largest talent agencies, William Morris Endeavor (WME) across Australia, the U.K. and the U.S., joining artists such as The WeekndSkrillexDeath GripsM.I.A. and more.

Fans of Willaris. K can catch him playing a series of shows across Australia’s annual BIGSOUNDconference and a run of festivals to close out the year. See dates and details below.

PRAISE FOR WILLARIS. K

“THINK LOCAL ACT GLOBAL – Did Flume have a debut cut as confident as Alchemy? I’m gonna go ahead and say no. That’s a good sign for this 23-year-old upstart. Alchemy is filling dancefloors with ease and wise heads are saying the right things.

Willaris has since released his debut single, ‘Alchemy’, and it rips…On ‘Alchemy’ this relative newcomer tinkers with some really thoughtful, intricate beats and textures that could have easily slid from a Bonobo LP, and has built them around a beaut house beat and brooding synthesisers. As subtle as it’s packed, this is the first true club jam of 2017.

Willaris. K; the king
Pilerats

The best of Australian electronic often arises from the most unexpected places. Proving this is Willaris. K., an exciting producer out of New South Wales’ northern coast that has stunned with the release of his debut single Alchemy. Put simply, Alchemy is an absolute stunner. Its deep rifts of Seekae-esque synth creates an aural texture like nothing I’ve ever heard, building and building as it travels its five-minute journey, twisting and turning along the way. At parts, it’s fierce and powerful, punching through aural limitations and escaping boundaries, but other parts it’s restrained and held-back, slowly washing you over with waves of synthesizer and a Bonobo-esque drum pattern that oozes underneath.

…in 2017, coastal New South Wales is taking centre stage and WILLARIS. K is leading the charge. The producer has just released his debut track ‘Alchemy’ and it’s a moody adventure through light electronic sound. The textures in ‘Alchemy’ work together to create a melody that is completely unique and switches from harsh digital tones to airy atmospherics effortlessly. The song sounds like a walk through a dark jungle, intriguing, surprising, dark and mystical.

He creates a delicate tension between the layers of the track, rough bass synth textures hum under the intricate top line that flows through the track. It gives you both moments of harsh tension and euphoric freedom within moments of one another, each end of the spectrum colliding into one another in a release of pure sonic beauty.

…spacey, nighttime bumper ” “There’re a lot of neat little production quirks you can pick out, each adding a little extra texture to the thing” “Its nice to have already found a clever a producer to hang my hat on in 2017 and my hands have seen very little labour in the process. More of this, this year please.”

WILLARIS. K IS THE BROODING AUSSIE BEAT-MAKER YOU NEED TO HEAR
Stoney Roads

Where the hell did Willaris K come from? Well, he hails from Northern Coast NSW, but his debut single ‘Alchemy’ came seemingly out of nowhere. It’s a deep, intense, textural synth instrumental we first caught over at triple j Unearthed. Linda Marigliano says it got her feeling like “a fly, buzzing amongst the apocalypse and this is my soundtrack” in her 4-star review.
