The beloved indie rockers introduced Twain on their social media accounts as “a voice for the ineffable that must be heard.” Overwhelming support followed from artists, fans and press alike. “Solar Pilgrim” earned over 100,000 streams in its first month and situated Twain as the #1 Most Posted Artist on Hype Machine. “…one of my favorite musical beings of all time – including the dead ones” – Langhorne Slim
“‘Solar Pilgrim’ is cosmic folk, bright and sparkling, but with all the caterwauling and rough bits that the most stoic traditionalist might desire.” – Uproxx
“Twain is life. His words and presence are hard to deny… he’s kind of got this cult hero status now.” – Tyler Williams of The Head and The Heart
“amazing” – Dr. Dog
“Reminiscent of Jeff Buckley, his voice wavers over a wildly romantic guitar progression. Like Twain’s career, the song is young, but it’s filled with soul and has instantly become timeless.”
“an artist of the deepest importance to us, a voice for the ineffable that must be heard” – Big Thief
“Twain’s music is what feelings sound like.” – Impose
“‘Solar Pilgrim’ will hypnotize you… it will take you on the kind of journey that you wished never ended.” – The Dove and The Wolf
“one of my favorite bands” – Lucy Dacus
More on Twain:
Twain is the masterfully delicate creation of Mt. Davidson. Over the course of a young but eventful career, Davidson has contributed his virtuoso musicianship to the likes of The Low Anthem, Spirit Family Reunion, Deslondes and more. Now narrowing his focus to the solo project, Davidson maintains roots in indie folk and Americana while thoughtfully exploring sounds of psychedelia, making Rare Feeling a distinguishing, multi-textured beast. Without word of new release, Twain has secured support slots for Big Thief, Lucy Dacus and Langhorne Slim, as well as coveted sets at tastemaking festivals including Newport Folk, Nelsonville Music Festivaland Whispering Beard. Demand for his devastatingly raw stage presence continues to build nationwide.
The new album was co-recorded by Adrian Olsen (Natalie Prass, Matthew E. White, Flo Morrissey, Foxygen) and Scott McMicken of Dr. Dog. Twain recently completed a run supporting Big Thief and Lucy Dacus and will open for Langhorne Slim on upcoming dates. Notable plays include New York City’s Bowery Ballroom on September 26 and Washington D.C.’s Sixth & I Historic Synagogue on September 27. Dates are listed below. More to be announced.
