Màquina Total is the name of my music project. I am producer, songwriter and performer.
How did you start?
I learned how to use Ableton Live and then I started to create my own songs.
Where are you based?
I am from Barcelona but I live in Madrid at the moment.
Please give an example of your music writing process?
I usually start with a beat and some pads and later it comes the bass. When I have created something new that I am really excited about I dance to that music in my room while I try to sing vocals with spontaneous lyrics or words that I have written on my ‘ideas’ notebook.
What are you working on right now?
I am starting to figure out how the sound of my next album will be.
What is your gear setup?
When I perform live I try to sing more than to play instruments but I always have my computer with Ableton Push on stage and also the Roland JU-06, some Tc-Helicon vocal effects processor and the Shure sm58.
What do you like to do outside of music and does it affect your music?
I am photographer and director at CANADA. I love having images on my mind when I am making music; it helps me to create the atmosphere in every song.
How would you describe your music genre?
Do you know any music theory?
I play basic guitar chords.
What are your plans for the future?
I am visiting the Egyptian pyramids this year and hopefully getting inspired on the making of new music.
How did you get into music?
Domestica Records found my songs on the Internet and they asked me to release my first album. I played live at Primavera Sound festival this year.
What are you listening to at the moment?
Who are your top 5 influences and icons?
When are you playing next?
Balearec’h Festival. Brittany (France), 29th July.
