What is your name and role within the band?
Hi I am Danio and I am the Songwriter and Producer of Husky Loops. Sometimes I play guitar.
How did you start?
Husky Loops started because the three of us wanted to be in a band together and because we really liked each other shoes.
Where are you based?
South East London.
Please give an example of your music writing process?
We write differently every time. It’s very hard to pigeonhole our creative process so I’ll give you one example only:
“Tempo” started when by mistake or luck Pietro and Tom started playing the bass and drums groove together out of the blue and and we all got inspired. I wanted to put a jazz guitar line on top and it turned into that noisey guitar thing. Then I went home and wrote a topline and some lyrics about my family and the concept of time and added it on top. It took us one Sunday. Some songs can take months, some others half an hour.
What are you working on right now?
New material, new songs, new jams and also we are trying to make our live set even more exciting.
What is your gear setup?
Guitar, Bass, Drums, Vocals. Me and Tom (bass) use guitar pedals and Pietro (drums) used a spdsx too. Sometimes, I play the Piano because I LOVE it.
What do you like to do outside of music and does it affect your music?
Personally I do very little outside of music and making only music inspires my music. Sounds stupid, but being around music all the time keeps me on a roll, I am lucky and I listen to music everyday. I like being obsessed. Right now I am in love and that affects my music too, makes me think more about emotions and less about the bass sound.
How would you describe your music genre?
It’s Husky Loops. We make the music we want to hear.
Do you know any music theory?
I do a bit, I went to uni, I had to but didn’t enjoy theory. Pietro doesn’t know it at all. I think Tom can read a bit really really slowly.
What are your plans for the future?
Create more and be happy, discover new things, jam more and play lots of gigs. We are playing so many gigs it’s great! Mainly tho I think we are keen on writing more material and see what we can do artistically, push each other into new challenges everyday.
How did you get into music?
My dad had a cd collection, I picked up a Jerry Lee Lewis record when I was 8 years old and from there I said goodbye to the world of normal people forever.
What are you listening to at the moment?
Who are your top 5 influences and icons?
Tough. Also these are mine, Pietro’s and Tom’s are so different:
When are you playing next?
We are about to play Dot to Dot festival in Manchester, Bristol and Nottingham and then we’re off to Europe, we are playing headlines shows in Paris and Berlin and we will open for the Kills in Prague, Leipzig and Copenhagen. Please, check all our shows on socials, it’s fun and they are all there.
Please feel free to include any extra info.
Two weeks ago I missed my plane because I went to Gatwick airport and I was meant to go to Luton. I hated the experience and myself, so I spent £16 on a burger and a coffee. The burger was rubbish. Eventually I ended up in the studio in Italy where I was meant to be and we finished mixing our new song. It sounds fantastic.
