Due to popular demand, the Maggie Rogers show scheduled for Tuesday 25 July 2017 at The Factory Theatre (All Ages) has been moved to The Metro Theatre (All Ages), located at 624 George Street, Sydney NSW 2000.
Splendour in the Grass Sideshow
Meet Maggie Rogers, the 22-year-old producer, songwriter, and performer from Brooklyn that left Pharrell Williams visibly stunned during a master class at NYU last year. The footage of his reaction has now accumulated over 2.4 million views and Alaska, the track itself, has over 27 million streams on Spotify. By the end of 2016, Maggie was on the Artists to Watch lists in 2017 by BBC and Vevo Discover.
Like most discovery stories, this one doesn’t start at the beginning; she has been making and releasing albums since early high school, with a solid Bandcamp account of releases dating back to 2012. A year of clubbing through Europe influenced her to change her previous banjo, ukulele soaked tunes, into more electronic, synth based tracks with gentle R&B undertones. Now almost a year on from the masterclass that started it all, Maggie has released ‘Now That The Light is Fading’; a compelling debut EP that is justified entirely by its own musical merits, and is a wonderful glimpse at an emerging young artist set for bigger and better things.
