perfect middle finger up to the patriarchy.

Ahead of her biggest run of national dates yet, social commentator and femme rock champion Ali Barter has revealed the new video clip for “One Foot In“, another album highlight from her instantly enduring debut A Suitable Girl. The clip, created by Jam Nawaz shows the energy and excitement from Ali’s run of sold album launches for A Suitable Girl earlier this year, and is a perfect preview of her upcoming One Foot In Tour.

Joining Ali on the One Foot In Tour is Dunedin’s Kane Strang (Dead Oceans) who is making his Australian debut – jumping in on shows in Sydney, Newcastle and Canberra. Described by Pitchfork as having “a gift for pulling diamonds from the rough” and as “the next Stephen Malkmus,” by The Revue, Strang’s on the brink of becoming indie-rock’s intelligent poster boy, with a live show that exhibits his unpredictable and exhilarating command on stage.

Melbourne’s Press Club will join Ali in Geelong, Hobart, Melbourne and Adelaide, their newest single “Headwreck” was instantly added to triple j and “one of the most exciting bands kicking around on the live music scene at the moment” (Music Feeds). The tour fills out with Chromaand Smoke Rings in Castlemaine; Eli Schoen in Perth; MANE in Adelaide; and Something Something Explosion in Byron Bay and more TBA.

Ali Barter has also signed to WME booking agency in North America, being represented by Robbie Brown and Christina Lynch out of LA where Ali will be headed straight after the tour.

One Foot In” is an album highlight that with it’s energetic “fuck you” vibe has exploded at recent live shows. “One Foot In” builds on Ali’s signature mix of rocking guitar licks layered with an angelic melody, tracking the emotional fall out from being with someone who is waiting on something better to come along.

Ali explains “The line ‘…and now I’m stripping for free’ was about me feeling exposed and a bit like a chump. The song is a lot of fun to play live and it’s helpful to remember these emotions when playing it because it gives the song a great energy.
